Post licensing kaplan

Kaplan Real Estate Education is an online training academy for individuals considering a career in real estate or moving through the ranks in their existing real estate career. This school offers training in 27 different states, although students should note that course options can vary widely.

For example, Kaplan only offers pre-licensing training for real estate salespersons (and not brokers) in the state of Ohio. Most states where Kaplan operates let you choose from both, as well as from continuing education courses, but you'll still want to check to see which options are available where you live.

If you choose Kaplan for your real estate education, you do have a few decisions to make. For example, you can choose to attend classes in a live webinar format, but you can also opt for on-demand video instruction, which lets you study online entirely at your own pace. If you choose to take courses via the live webinar format, you should note that available times and days for your courses will vary based on where you live.

Pros Explained

  • Courses are taught by professionals with years of experience: Kaplan says many of their instructors are practicing real estate brokers, attorneys, appraisers, mortgage experts, or CPAs.
  • Technical support and curriculum support available: Kaplan has a student support portal where students can access various types of technical support. They also have a chat feature for technical support.
  • Multiple online learning formats to choose from: Choose to learn in several different online formats, including a live webinar format or self-paced study.
  • Larger footprint than most real estate schools: Where many real estate schools are regional or state-based, Kaplan Real Estate Education offers training in 27 different states.

Cons Explained

  • Online course access is only for six months: Students will need to complete their training within six months since their online access expires at that time.
  • Shipping costs for course materials is not included in the course price: You'll have to pay extra costs for shipping course materials in addition to the advertised price.
  • Pricing can be high depending on where you live: Pricing can be competitive or high compared to other schools in your state, so make sure to check.
  • Not available in all states: This school does not offer real estate pre-licensing training in every state, yet other online real estate schools do.
  • No in-person learning: Kaplan is an online real estate school, so you don't have the option to attend training in a classroom setting.

Note that you may have a specific attendance requirement for courses depending on your state. In Minnesota, for example, there's a 100% attendance requirement for all live courses. In New Mexico, on the other hand, the attendance requirement is 90% for all live classes.

Available Courses

When it comes to course availability at Kaplan Real Estate Education, it's important to note that options can vary widely depending on where you live. However, potential students may find the following options available in their state.

Real Estate Salesperson Pre-Licensing

Kaplan offers real estate salesperson pre-licensing training in most of the states where it operates, which you can complete in several different online formats. The length and scope of training varies depending on the licensing requirements in each state, yet each program was created to help students meet educational requirements while preparing for the state licensing exam.

Real Estate Broker Pre-Licensing

Kaplan also offers real estate broker pre-licensing training in many states, which is also offered online in a live webinar or self-paced format. The length and scope of training can vary depending on the licensing requirements in each state, and each program is designed to helping students meet educational requirements while preparing for the state licensing exam.

Continuing Education

Students can also choose Kaplan Real Estate Education for their continuing education requirements, which vary by state. Once again, these courses are offered in a live webinar or on-demand online format.

Appraisal Licensing

You can also become licensed to complete real estate appraisals in seven states through Kaplan Real Estate Education. This training is available in Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Home Inspection Licensing

Aspiring home inspectors can also turn to Kaplan for their home inspection licensing training. This option is available in various formats in 30 states plus Washington, D.C.

Contractor Education

Kaplan Real Estate Education also offers home contractor training in Minnesota and Wisconsin. This training can prepare you to pass your residential real estate contractor exam, renew your contractor’s license, or become EPA lead-safe certified in your state.

Professional Development

Kaplan also offers various professional development opportunities that vary in scope and length. Courses you may find available in your state include business brokerage training, a real estate accelerator course, and more. These courses are supplementary and do not count toward continuing education requirements.

Course Format

Kaplan Real Estate Education only offers training and courses online, which can be a pro and con. After all, pursuing education online can be incredibly convenient since you can learn from the comfort of your home, potentially even on your own time. However, students who learn better in person may want to consider another school.

In terms of their online course offerings, Kaplan offers the option for on-demand live training and self-paced learning. This means you can show up for virtual courses at a specific time and date or you can log in and complete your coursework and training on your own schedule.

Real estate courses offered through Kaplan Real Estate Education are taught by professionals with years of experience. In fact, many of their instructors are practicing real estate brokers, attorneys, appraisers, mortgage experts, or CPAs. Note that your specific instructors will vary depending on the state you live in and the course format you choose.
