pearl-handled

But even though this vicious little pig hair was so coarse you could feel it creaking out of its follicle, you knew that attacking it with your mum's borrowed pearl-handledtweezers would be useless.

First things first; 17/02/19

I found out that you don't need Google to get stuck in a vortex, as long as you keep turning a book's "leafs," or "pages.") In my defense, I don't know why your mom had a pistol strapped to the inside of her thigh during the entire wedding ceremony, even if it was one of those tiny, tiny pearl-handled.38 pistols marketed toward women.

Apology Letter from Starkburg County Jail

His well-founded concern about the problems posed by pervasive South Vietnamese official corruption (grasped, contrary to Boot's claim, by virtually every American intelligence analyst after 1965) did not keep him from championing the unscrupulous, impetuous and flamboyant Nguyen Cao Ky for Saigon's leadership -- he of the aviator sunglasses, purple silk scarf and pearl-handledrevolver.

Losing hearts and minds

When he was asked about his pearl-handledrevolvers by a reporter he responded, "Only a New Orleans pimp would carry a pearl-handledrevolver!" But a look at famous sixguns used by several Southwestern lawmen, including Tom Threepersons, shows they preferred pearl as their grip material.

Selecting & caring for six gun stocks

Are they "grips," "stocks," or--Heaven save us--"handles?" "Pearl-handled" and "stag-handled" are terms found not only in Western novels, but on modern Internet auction sites.

Three great grips

Quote:

I believe General Patton carried a pearl handled pistol.
The famous story about that may be fiction, but it fits with his character. At a staff meeting during the conquest of Europe, someone made a comment to Patton about his "pearl handled pistols".

To which, Patton (supposedly) replied, "Only a pimp in a cheap New Orleans cathouse would carry a pearl handled pistol! These, sir, are Ivory!"

This was apparently said to, or in front of (or in any case he heard about it) a young Andy Rooney. Rooney apparently had something in for the memory of the General, because for the rest of his life and journalistic career, whenever he would mention General Patton, he would specifically refer to his "pearl handled pistols". I even heard him do it myself, one time in one of his 60 Minutes commentaries, decades after Gen Patton died. He simply would not let it go, or acknowledge that they were ivory, not pearl.
that is journalistic integrity in America.....

The last I knew, Patton's pistols were on display at the West Point museum, where if you look, you can clearly see the grips are ivory, NOT pearl.
