RV Builder Groups

Sometimes It Takes a Village

One of the more exciting aspects of building an RV is experiencing the vast community of builders and their enthusiasm for helping others. We encourage you to check in and visit with the many people who are already building or flying RVs. Builders often band together to provide mutual assistance in building and flying their aircraft. Many of these groups are highly-organized and some have regular meetings, newsletters, shared tool banks, and fly-in events. Van’s Aircraft has found builders’ groups to be invaluable for both new builders and the community as a whole, and we encourage these groups by serving as a clearinghouse for contact information and to help put people in touch.

Note: Because builders groups often change, vanish, resurrect, or change personnel (people do finish airplanes, after all!), please contact Van’s Aircraft either to add your group or to provide an update to the information on this list. You can email us at [email protected] with your changes.

Builder Support

An extensive support network exists to help you with building your RV.

Van’s Technical Support

Every RV builder has access to official technical support from Van’s Aircraft. We do not charge an extra fee for this support, it’s included with the cost of your kit.

Telephone Support: 503.678.6545
Van’s Aircraft technical support phone hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30-9:30 AM and 3:00-4:00 PM Pacific Time. When calling, please have your questions thought-out and any applicable plans-page numbers readily available so we can quickly reference what you’re looking at. This will help us support as many people as possible – and keep your phone bill at a minimum!

E-mail Support:[email protected]
Van’s also answers technical support questions via our e-mail address. Please describe the problem and include any drawing reference numbers. Attaching photos of your build can often help us better understand your question, so send them as well. Most questions are usually answered with 24 hours, and often times quicker. More complex questions might require some research, of course. Just make sure to give us a valid return e-mail address!

Builders Groups

We encourage you to check with those who are already building or flying RVs. RV builders often band together to provide each other assistance in building and flying their aircraft. There are a variety of builders groups world-wide. For more information, please see our list of Builders Groups.

Other RV Builders

With more than 8,000 people building and flying RV aircraft, it might surprise you how many might be near your area. Many an RV builder has been surprised to learn of an RV project under construction right in his or her neighborhood!

Upon request, Van’s Aircraft will review our records and attempt to provide you with the names of other RV builders near you. Simply provide us your location, and we’ll see what we can find. We encourage you to check with those in your area. Local Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) chapters are often a great resource and place to find people who have built RVs. Many friendships have developed around the common interest of RV projects!

For those still considering an RV project, contacting a builder near you can be an excellent way to get a hands-on introduction to the building process.

Other Internet Sources

There are a variety of resources on the Internet helpful to the RV builder. Although these are spread somewhat randomly throughout the internet, we have collected links to some prominent sites. View our links.
